More Chinese Retinas Coming

The interest for a "Renita" Visture V4 HD and Cube U9GT5 tablets is growing, people around the globe are trying to pre-order the models, even if there's no single demo clip showing that these tablets exist and work.

Apparently, both that Visture and Cube put their "branding" decals on an unknown, or brand-less OEM units with the same hardware, so I was correct in predicting that there will be more "Renitas" popping up here and there in Chinese online shops. Just prepare your $220....$240 and pick the model/brand you trust more. But mark my words: apart from ZTE, Huawei, Xiaomi and Oppo, there's none reliable, nada and zilch. Also, your best bet would be checking a particular online shop's return/replacement policy.

So, for today we have some "Renitas" coming. First one, spotted by Slatedroid's bach0405 is called like Window N90 FHD (or something, because as always, readable Chinese is lacking) and can be pre-ordered for $240 from here. While there's practically no details that may set that "Window" apart from Visture and Cube, another Renita, namely Aocos PX93 could be more interesting. If you try to get a closer look at the Aocos Macaw PX93 ad I posted above you may see its CPU is described as "quad core" (四核). While the quad core Mali GPU of Rockchip RK3066 is a known spec for all these Renitas and dozens more Chinese tabs, the quad core CPU chips at Rockchip are projected only for RK32xx chips that haven't been even demoed yet.

However, Rockchip isn't even mentioned in the Aocos Macaw PX93 description:

  Product Configuration: Quad-Core CPU / Quad-Core GPU Mali 400/9.7 inch the retinal screen / resolution 2048 * 1536 / aluminum-magnesium alloy carved design / 2GB DDR3 large memory / 3G version of the built-in 3G Internet access / wireless Bluetooth keyboard

So, even if there's still a dual core (RK3066?) Aocos Macaw P93 mentioned as an option, a quad core CPU Aocos Macaw P93 with 2 GB of RAM is not a brother to all those Renitas I was discussing so far.

One reason nobody have seen a demo of RK3066 based 2048x1536 tablets might be pretty stuttering Androids on them. While 4 Mali 400MP cores are generally fine for 2D handling, 4 times more pixels to move take at least four times more of RAM for MMU operation, and at full resolution (UI, anyone?) 1 GB of RAM shared with GPU might be quite limiting (we talk Android here, not iOS, remember?).

In other words, Vistures and Cubes and Window's could possibly wait till more details and real (non-rendered) hands-on demo of that Aocos Macaw Quad Core P93 will show up. A Polish blogger uses "Ara" instead of "Macaw" in description of both Aocoses P93, dual and quad core, maybe his Chinese is better than mine.

The only decent quad core CPU ARM processor with Mali 400MP GPUs I know (and Chinese may have some access to) could be Samsung Exynos 4 Quad:

Stay tuned and comment with more findings. You know more? Let me know, too. People with better Chinese than mine are also very welcome.

UPDATE. People at Tabletrepublic.com have discovered another Chinese "Renita" clone, called Chuwi V99 this time. Pandawill charges $289.99 for it with free shipping, and this price is around $50 higher than the rest of Renita crowd for whatever reason. But the most impatient Renita lovers may try to order it here. Or just shop around all these Aliexpresses. Europeans may want to try their hands at chinistore for €229,90, even if I think the fair price will be around €180 quite soon. I'm not posting any specs of that Chuwi V99 because they are nearly identical to what I posted earlier for Visture and Cube. Absolutely the same description and price at chinistore same applies to Vido N90FHD, also known as YuanDao N90. Sure, if you happen to discern any difference between these and you prefer, say, to call "Cube" a "brand", and the rest an ordinary junk, I wouldn't argue with you. Renita on a $200 Chinese slate is quite good result for any such "brand".

I'd be more interested in that mysterious Aocos Macaw Quad Core PX93 with 2 GB RAM. But it's just me. Stay tuned.
