Пару недель назад планировал я заполучить себе Тегру Ноут в виде ХП Слейт 7 Икстрим или там ЕВГА Тегра Ноута, тоже ребрэнда. Как-то поутихло у меня стремеление. НВИДИА есть никакой изготовитель, производством занимаются пара десятков ОЕМ-ов, типа ЕВГА или ПНИ. Или Хуйвея шеньженьского, где все эти таблеты и тачают. Так что если видишь ХП Слейт 8 Икстрим, знай, что внутри у него Хуйвей, и суть его вся насквозь хуйвейская. О первых отзывах я уже писал тут, повторяться не буду. К рождеству станут его продавать за $99...$150, тогда будем посмотреть. А пока мой любимый рождественский подарок есть Делл Венью 8 Про за $99:

Это было сегодня по $99 за штуку, беснующиеся дорбастеры смели все и в онлайне и с прилавков за минуты. Цена после этого поднялась до $199, и эти экземпляры купили часа за три по всей стране. Одна надежда -- осталось 11 дней подобных игр. Конечно, с местными пацанами мне не потягаться, но за $199 укупить этот аппарат, я думаю, удастся. Уиндоуз 8.1 таблетка на Бей Трейле (Intel Atom Bay Trail quad core 1.33GHz Z3740D processor, 2 gigs of DDR3L RAM) -- это вам не с Тегрой 4 хуйвея валять:
Где-то около $60 еще потребуется на покупку острого стайлуса, УСБ-тройника со свитчем и МиКо Блютус клавы с обложкой. Аж скулы сводит, как хоцца!

Рапид Райз дрожжики закончились у меня, поэтому пользовал обычные Актив. Крышку Бред-бейкери не должно было выпирать, и для подхода дрожжи пришлось активироватьь в горячей подслащенной воде, но кой-чего выпеклось. При слабых дрожжах не надо перебарщивать ни со сметаной, ни с маслом. И никаких яиц.
У Венью 8 Про куча технических проблем и минимум техподдержки как со стороны Делл, так и третьих фирм. Но главная на сегодня -- это истребительные распродажи (fire sales, remember HP TouchPad). Потому надо успеть укупить.
Dell Venue 8 Pro looks very suspiciously as failed product. I'm afraid Dell will terminate its production soon. They already have been poised to fire thousands of employees, they have very big problems with manufacture and delivery of Venue 11, accessories for Dell Venue 8 Pro are not even promised.
Buying Dell Venue 8 Pro today even for $99 brings lots of headache:
1. Stock case/cover is not what you may call "active" cover. A cheaper MoKo Bluetooth keyboard case is much more useful.
2. Venue 8 Pro has a glaring design error: without a special Y switched USB trunk one cannot use USB and charge the device simultaneously. Unlike the case with missing keyboard, there are not an obvious third party contraption ready to tackle the problem. People start to cut and splice USB hub wires themselves. Results are unclear, as stock 2A USB charger might not work reliably, and its replacement might be needed. Using 3A USB charger makes touches erratic.
3. An indicator that Venue 8 Pro is on its way out is that lack of care from Microsoft: one of Microsoft firmware/Windows 8.1 updates breaks a lot of functionality, Dell's firmware update A04 broke fast access to SD card. Tablet can be bricked very easily when trying to free some space on its eMMC,or move restore partition to SD card. Stock procedure of making USB restore/recovery stick is very faulty. On top of that, access to advanced (recovery, boot from USB) sections of EFI is denied in latest A04 firmware.
4. Dell releases faulty styluses, defective pieces released at a rate anywhere between 20 and 50 per cent of all units available. Replacements sent out have eaten all the stock. No alternative third party active Synaptic stylus is known. Stock styluses that do work are reported to lose the charge of its AAAA battery in a day instead of many weeks. One user has opened his stylus barrel and reported many design flaws and sloppy assembly jobs. This piece of Chinese-Mexican crap sells for $30, instead of $2 max, like every Chinese stylus should fetch.
5. No HDMI output is quite a painful "feature" for many. The cheapest USB-to-HDMI adapter is quite expensive device that has its limitations when working with USB 2.0 output instead of USB 3.0.
However, don't expect that some hypothetical Dell Venue 8.1 Pro with all this stuff mended will be sold at $199. Only as a fire sale.
With tablets, Dell is still in a bad streak. Remember Dell Streak 5? That's where it's started.
Of course, you may want to check 8" Windows 8.1 offerings from likes of Lenovo (Miix2), Toshiba, ASUS, if having a Synaptic sharp stylus means nothing to you. Or you can also go climb back your fence and wait for this Microsoft Surface Mini (by rumors, a 7.5 inch slate with whopping 5 GB of RAM and Kinect/Leap Motion type gesture controls) to be released in Q3 2014.
But I like to tinker with my devices. For example, my Acer C7 runs a good Ubuntu instead of that severely castrated Chrome OS. Once I lay my hands on this Dell Venue 8 Pro I will do my best to turn it into a mini notebook that can also run Linux. Or OS X. Hardware-wise, it's a fine computer.
