Hardware Manager doesn't show any "x" crosses or "?" question signs, so one can believe, for example, my non-existent Web cam works just fine. Apparently, problem is with me who couldn't find that spy pinhole Web cam somewhere on T5010 bezel. Just kidding: Win XP hardware manager sucks, and I desperately need to find me Fujitsu Vista Business restore disks for which I have a genuine COA sticker on the bottom of my Fujitsu Lifebook T5010.
Tablet works, sort of. It's just eraser end of genuine OEM Fujitsu stylus that my lady got me for $27 wasn't recognized in any and all drawing painting programs I use until yesterday. So it took me manual "upgrading" of Fujitsu America "drivers" to discover that utility called Pen Tablet Properties simply wasn't installed by Fujitsu Driver Upgrade (apparently, it wasn't installed at seller's in the first place, so there wasn't anything to upgrade.
After manually installing those Pen Tablet Properties I've got me missing eraser back on eraser end of my pen:
You may think it was the last piece in the puzzle. Au contraire, mon amis: somehow this upgrade made GIMP version 2.8 to show some more glitches, and so called Tablet PC Input Panel doesn't know eraser from pen tip still. Maybe it's by design though:
In Xubuntu 13.10, my Fujitsu Lifebook T5010 shows even more mysteries in the form of missing configurations, non-existent bezel/pen button and auto rotation support.
Once I get me 2x4GB RAM sticks I'd be trying something like ArtistX or Ubuntu Studio, or distro with DJ/sound making software removed but hopefully better Wacom pen support.
My T5010 is a great machine for its $81, and it certainly deserves a $40 CPU upgrade to Intel T9600 and installing some cheapo 64 GB 2.5 inch SATA II SSD. Then, it would need some Wheeler Dealers Ed China style of fiberglass patching of this missing corner:
