Sharp's 6.1" 2560x1600 498 PPI IGZO Display

I wrote about Toshiba's 6.1" 2560x1600 engineering sample of display almost a year ago. While it didn't evolve into anything for Toshiba, at least, visibly, the development apparently inspired Sharp to try their hands in producing this beauty that left MobileGeeks' Sascha overwhelmed:

The difference between Toshiba's attempt at ultra-res display and the one by Sharp is that while Toshiba didn't mentioned its technology Sharp uses IGZO (or Indium-Gallium-Zinc-Oxide film rendering very transparent, dense and fast screens). Wiki has this to say so far:

Sharp announced in mid-April 2012 [3] that they were producing bulk volumes of 32-inch 3840x2160, 10-inch 2560x1600 and 7-inch 1280x800 IGZO panels; it had been thought[by whom?] that the 'retina display' for the iPad 3 would be produced with Sharp's IGZO technology, but this turned out not to be the case.
Sure, it didn't make it in iPad 3, but as of now it can make it into iPad minis.

Quite a bit more details about this Überscreen could be picked from the following demo

All in all, this is very exciting news, and 6.1" IGZO phablets may become a reality in 2013. Samsung bezel-less 6.1" Samsung Galaxy Note III, anyone?
