"Whalefest returns to Monterey next month
On the weekend of April 12-13, the 15th annual Whalefest Monterey — a free festival celebrating the National Marine Sanctuary — will take over Old Fisherman’s Wharf and the Custom House Plaza in Monterey with dozens of exhibits about marine science and sustainability for all ages. The event features a symposium where local, world-renowned scientists will share their latest findings about sharks, humpback whales, plankton, wetlands and much more. There will also be art activities, cooking demos, live music, local history walks, marine vessel tours and the “almost famous” abalone races.
