My previous post about Ace Stream 3.0.2 installation in Linux Mint 17 Quiana ended up with me testing two very close methods of such installation and finding both quite satisfactory.
Problem was (and still is) that streams are infected by injected Web ads that grossly misbehave, up to crashing browser. Ace Stream Mozilla plugin 3.0.2 is certainly buggy, but the same plugin from previous Ace Stream distribution just rejects to start.
I tried lots of things, tricks and browsers. Today, it's time to try fresh Pale Moon 25.0.1 whose developers claim it's 25 % faster, simpler and cleaner than its daddy -- Mozilla.
LinuxG.net has a reliable procedure to install Pale Moon. In my case, I used 64-bit Moon:
$ wget sourceforge.net/projects/pm4linux/files/25.0.1/palemoon-25.0.1.en-US.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2 $ tar -xjvf palemoon-25.0.1.en-US.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2 $ sudo rm -rf /opt/palemoon* $ sudo mv palemoon /opt/palemoon25.0.1 $ sudo ln -sf /opt/palemoon25.0.1/palemoon /usr/bin/palemoon
Everything worked out just fine, plus all the current Mozilla plugins were picked up. Pale Moon looks more agile than its daddy, but all these Java/Javascript codes for parsing those ad codes are executed the same. So, no dice.
I once (in 2002...2003) participated in alternative graphic browser development with one talented astronomer and coder Sergey Karpov:
Browser was called 'Hacked Links' and later on it was picked for Damn Small Linux distro. I was just cutting png buttons and glyphs for it (before it went freetype 'full monty'), but I bet it could filter all the ads just fine if one needs to keep the browser UI when watching Ace streams.
Пивко, должно, хорошее попалось...
