Just Mobile AluPen Digital™ May Show Up Soon

Back in January I already noticed this interesting stylus officially called AluPen Digital™, read about it here. Now, it can be pre-ordered for $49.95 with availability marked as "early August". So, it took the company "Just Mobile" to hone its product about 8 months since its first appearance at CES 2014. "Just Mobile" claims it "works with almost all capacitive touchscreens", not just iPad's. Apparently, it took all these 8 months to tune the AluPen Digital.

Yet the iLounge site notes that "AluPen Digital’s lack of Bluetooth hardware means that advanced features such as pressure-sensitivity, palm rejection, and eraser or button-assisted secondary functions aren’t available here." That is, there could be a greater precision achieved from its 1.8 mm nib but nothing else. However, I doubt that palm rejection should be activated only by Bluetooth. Then, pressure sensitivity could be achieved programmatically, in this or that doodling app.

Here, no palm rejection clearly shows that $50 spent on AluPen Digital is a sheer waste:

So, as it is, it's a circa $10 tool you see here if you don't mind losing flashy packing box and manuals. Then, if Just Mobile would insist on asking this much for their mediocre pen you will see dozens of Chinese copies of it for $10 or so.

Like I said, dozens of other active sharp and more functional pens are showing up:

All in all, it's another ridiculous and overpriced attempt to outdo an average Wacom pen. In other words, IMHO any product with an idea to  retro-fit any capacitive tablet with Leap, any ultrasound/IR/whatever sensor, or better Wacom digitizer on a screen "protector" film should fare much better.
