Sharp's IGZO Möbius Pad: 甘いタブレット
It took Sharp a full year (or litlle less, or more) to really enter the tablet market with its IGZO screens. Even now, the first mass products with IGZO screens promising 80%-90% power consumption reduction are available in Japan only. It has started with Sharp's IGZO Aquos 7-incher and some other screens:
(disclaimer: the device demoed doesn't show sharp stylus capabilities of a prototype).
The same fate of being launched in Japan only awaits also Sharp's Windows 8.1 Bay Trail Möbius Pad (or should I say, Shapu Windows Mebiusu 10.1 inchi taburetto). There's no demo video of this Möbius available yet, but it's very interesting to see how this IGZO technology works:
Who in US wouldn't want a phone with 6.1" 2560x1600 IGZO screen that can last days on a single charge -- it's beyond me. Or who doesn't want a Haswell notebook with IGZO 15.6" 4K2K screen?
シャープから誰かが私にサンプルを送ることができますか?
It must be also mentioned that this Möbius Pad is not the first Sharp's foray into the realm of devices with IGZO screen panels. As I said almost a year ago, this Sharp Aquos SHT21 launched in Japan went practically unnoticed:
It looks like you won't be able to buy this interesting tablet even in Japan yet, almost a full year after showing its prototype. It will be pretty sad if the similar fate of vapourware would stick to its follower, a Möbius Pad.
However, amodel Sharp Aquos Pad SH-08E is shown as released to NTT DoCoMo with a not so "sharp" stylus:
