XBMC Runs Perfect On My Nook Color CM10

Installing XBMC on Android devices is not a big news, actually. Big news is that XBMC version 12 can be installed and running fine on any mobile device that can run MX Player. Even bigger news is that XBMC Android packaged their special edition that does all the convoluted configuration work for you:

INTRODUCING THE FIRST END USER FRIENDLY RELEASE OF XBMC FOR ANDROID – MUST HAVE!
Step 1: Install the “MX Player” application to your Android device. You can do this through the Google Play store, or simply by navigating to this page on your device’s web browser and then clicking on the appropriate download link below:
Step 2: Launch and exit the “MX Player” application on your device at least once before continuing.
Step 3: Download and install the “XAF Custom Build of XBMC” to your Android device. You can do this by navigating to this page on your device’s web browser and then clicking on the appropriate download link below:
NOTE: Should you encounter any errors at this point, make sure to Enable “Unknown sources” under “Security -> DEVICE ADMINISTRATION” within your device’s “Settings” panel.
Step 4: Once it’s done installing, launch the “XBMC” application on your device for the first time, wait a few seconds before you begin using it, then jump right in!
Congratulations! You should now be running XBMC like a champ. It might seem a little bit complex the first time, but all good things seem that way. Just play around with it and without question you’ll become addicted, which isn’t a bad thing in this case! Special Thanks goes out to kemonine96, staticaDK, and the XBMC Foundation for all their hard work and dedication.

When applying these steps for Nook Color (CM10, nightly 01/04/2013), you'd need to pick this apk: XAF Custom Build for NEON Touch Screen Devices out of three quoted above. That's 2nd link above. MX Player should be this one: MX Player for NEON Devices, which is the 1st link above. This XAF build works fine on defaults in settings, but you can play with whatever suits your fancy better, both in XBMC and MX Player settings. Just don't forget to start and exit MX Player before firing up XBMC.

Even if HD streams that available for XBMC video add-ons are usually quite compressed, you might need to have quite a good bandwidth of your connection and a good (=usually expensive), "gaming" router, or a much cheaper router that can run DD-WRT (see my older articles on DD-WRT on, say, D-Link DIR 825 here in this blog). Then, you won't have any problems in playing 720p (or even 1080p) streams. That is, if you'd find anything worth watching.

Was pretty excited to discover what my dying Nook Color still can handle, so excuse me my blurry cam called Canon PowerShot SD940 IS Digital ELPH that I've gor for $3 + 2 cigarettes, see my earlier posts with tests.
