Well, C7 doesn't have a SIM slot, to even think of 3G connectivity when you're on the go. No 2G, or EDGE also. No nothing, just a weak 3.5 hours battery to enjoy offline CrOS/Chrubuntu for about 4 hours.
As for a battery, you can find a 9-cell 3rd party replacement for about $65. Supposedly, it will more than double your battery life with C7.
For 3G connectivity, you might look for offerings from AT&T and Cingular. This ~$25 3G USB dongle claims connectivity: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Huawei-E220-UNLOCKED-3G-Dongle-for-Android-2-2-WM8650-HSDPA-UTMS-USB-MODEM-7-2M-/121010792471? pt=US_USB_Wi_Fi_Adapters_Dongles&hash=item1c2cce2817.
For these dongles, Cr-48 Wiki has a simple recipe to get out of Verizon's deadly grip:
Your Cr-48 is associated with Verizon Wireless by default. To use a SIM card to access another carrier's 3G network (for instance, if you're traveling abroad), follow these steps:
Start your Cr-48 and sign in to your Google account
Press ctrl + alt + t to open a terminal window
Change your carrier association by entering this command: modem_set_carrier Generic UMTS
Type exit and press enter
Turn off your Cr-48 and insert the SIM card in the slot under the battery
Restart your Cr-48. Click the network icon and see if the SIM card carrier is listed in the menu. Make sure mobile data is enabled.
To switch your carrier back to Verizon, open a terminal window and type this command: modem_set_carrier Verizon Wireless
For C7, it will take some more or less obvious adjustments of the procedure above.
Also, apparently the 3G modem should be recognized in Chrubuntu as such, first.
If I had a spare $25, I'd sure test this solution on my C7. However, it also takes a data contract with AT&T which I won't be getting any time soon. So you're on you're own here.
