Huawei MediaPad: Some Details

Image representing Qualcomm as depicted in Cru...Image via CrunchBaseEngadget has it, in some enticing details. For more, it was suggested, we might wait till Q3 when this Huawei MediaPad will hit retail. But the Huawei's 7" screen of whooping 217 DPI has made me very curious.

No results on a model of that mysterious almost "Retina"-class IPS 7" 1280x800 display sporting 217 DPI. But I'll continue to look deeper and will update. Meanwhile, the Google devs should work harder on improving their HW Renderscript/SKIA engines to drive such screens.

On the other hand, the Adreno 220 GPU was well demoed here. The clip is too good to leave it out:

Another thing that is habitually overlooked in dual-core SoCs is the support of SMP mode. I don't know what it would be in Android 3.2, I suspect, maybe good enough for a first attempt. But it might easily be a good contender for Playbook 2 based on OMAP4460 or even OMAP5 devices. Naturally, after building a QNX Neutrino on that beast. Sure, it's hard, but I suppose it may turn not harder or longer than perfecting Android 3.2 on it.

The tablet is not priced yet, but anything below $400 for a WiFi-only 8 or 16 GB model makes it indisputable winner.

Meanwhile, balrogbob has broken his PD Planet -- at a very inopportune moment of his development. We are sorry for you, King of the Planet. Another tragedy has struck me: my portrait of Jim (see below) supposed to pay for my PD Planet, has netted me just $50. In any case, my local brick and mortar Kohl's doesn't have these tablets in stock -- just like Oleg verygreen's Kohl's where they are in the process of discarding all the "electronics" merchandise.
